Despite getting a foot of snow a few days ago, it finally feels like spring in Chesterfield! We are walking through the melting slushy snow with light sweatshirts on and have shed our double layers for a single layer. With how warm it feels, we cannot help but eagerly anticipate the beginning of summer camp! With the horses shedding their winter coats, they are ready to be brushed and loved by all the wonderful girls that come and spend their summers at Road’s End Farm. As we begin to hire international counselors and receive camper applications, suddenly the summer feels even close with the warm weather.

With the new stable almost complete, one of our last steps is to move the tack into the tack rooms. While it may sound difficult, moving over 50 saddles is actually the easiest part of the work. In contrast, measuring out the saddle racks in our new tack rooms and making sure each is in the right place is the hardest part. During morning tacking up times, we may have to arrange the set up a bit differently this year, something we will experiment with during our first few sessions of Camp. With our horses still in the same field and ready to be ridden, the campers, counselors, instructors, and other staff will be adjusting to a new barn location.

With the record temperatures reaching possibly 60 degrees Fahrenheit today, we cannot help but think about summer camp being only a couple months away. June is approaching fast, and with the blast of warm weather, it suddenly feels much closer for this New England horseback riding camp. The team at Road’s End Farm is running around the farm today in short sleeve shirts, light weight long sleeve shirts, and baseball caps rather than winter hats. Quite the sight in February. Wishing our camp families well during this warm weather snap, and are looking forward to filling the farm with girls of all ages this summer.

Road’s End Farm is known all over the world for being a horseback riding camp, yet the campers who come here year-in and year-out know we are one big family. The Road’s End family spans globally, and we have connections to countries all across the world, yet the most special thing that is created each year are lifelong friendships. While young girls come here for the horses, to live on a working horse farm, the trail riding, the ring lessons, we find that girls leave with the most important creation of all – genuine friendships. With the congenial camp environment, strong, lifelong friendships are created at the end of Jackson Hill Road, and our campers and camp families become a part of the Road’s End Farm extended family. We look forward to a summer camp full of nurturing friendships this upcoming 2017 season.

Road’s End Farm officially founded a production label, Friendship Films, and we are excited to announce our first cinematic experience for your visual pleasure. Enjoy the world premiere of Super Herd, our special herd of horses at the end of Jackson Hill Road. These horses are cherished during summer camp by girls from all over the world, and this video celebrates Road’s End Farm’s lovely herd.

Just so there is no confusion, this is not a real film that is being produced, but rather a chance for us to create short film clips that are cute, funny, and enjoyable to watch while you are not at camp. We hope everyone in our extended camp family enjoys watching these silly little films! We have fun making them! 🙂
