As the annual letter wrote, we are concerned about finding enough campers for this summer. We are wondering how to spread the word about the all girls’ horsemanship camp at the end of Jackson Hill Road. We consider Road’s End Farm to be one big family and we are looking forward to welcoming new members of our camp family this summer. Our blogs usually are updates of the farm, but this post serves as a calling for all of our returning campers to please spread the word about Road’s End Farm! As a New England horse camp, we hope to have more girls experience the beautiful woods of New Hampshire and come see our herd of 67 horses.

With our camp program being a smaller operation, we also do not want to overflow the camp. We love having smaller ring lessons and smaller trails so that girls can get the most out of their time in the saddle. This summer, we are thinking we may have slightly smaller sessions, which will make for a truly special experience for the girls who come. Regardless of the size of the camp, we are confident that summer 2017 will be filled with laughter, horses, sunshine, lake swimming, horseback riding, farm chores, and lifelong friendships being created and longtime friends reuniting.

It’s official – the annual letter has been sent out! Finally, one big step closer to summer camp! Tom worked hard to get the letter done and we are anticipating getting applications in the mail soon. 🙂 A main portion of the letter was dedicated to asking our camp families for help in getting the word out about Road’s End Farm Horsemanship Camp. We are not sure why the number of inquiries are smaller than previous years, but we are hoping to share our camp program with a few more new campers this year than we did last year. If you know if anyone who may be interested in an all girls summer horse camp, please let them know about us and we will be happy to chat on the phone or give a tour to an interested family.

Despite getting a foot of snow a few days ago, it finally feels like spring in Chesterfield! We are walking through the melting slushy snow with light sweatshirts on and have shed our double layers for a single layer. With how warm it feels, we cannot help but eagerly anticipate the beginning of summer camp! With the horses shedding their winter coats, they are ready to be brushed and loved by all the wonderful girls that come and spend their summers at Road’s End Farm. As we begin to hire international counselors and receive camper applications, suddenly the summer feels even close with the warm weather.

As we look forward to summer and think about hiring our staff, we are reading through international counselor applications and beginning to call some lovely young women from overseas. Last year, we had counselors from England, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. These counselors bring invaluable experience to Road’s End Farm and the campers each year love hearing about their different places of origin. The Camp would not function without the wonderful staff members we find each year, and we are so fortunate to find such compassionate and kind women that come to the end of Jackson Hill Road.

Daisy the DogWhile the cats are laying by the wood stove, Daisy is rolling in the snow, horses are napping in the sunshine, the Road’s End Farm staff is working to get ready for summer 2017. We are getting applications sent to us from people who visit the paper trail and download the 2017 application. One big project we have coming up is to restructure the arts & crafts program. Katie Coe will be working hard to order new supplies and throw out the old ones. Not to mention, she will be using her muscles to move and reorganize the entire room. This has been necessary for a long time and we are lucky enough to have someone as dedicated as Katie to help us take on this project.
